Chilean Wine and Food Festival 2010

Chilean Wine and Food Festival 2010

Chile’s Gastronomic panorama has increasingly changed over the last decade globally but wine lovers sometimes mistakenly stereo-caste Chilean wines as “Value for Money” wines. ProChile is organising a Chilean Wine and Food Evening at Hotel Grand, New Delhi in conjunction with the Indian Wine Academy with wines from over a dozen wineries,  that might help the visitors change their opinion, claims Nestor Riveros, Minister Counsellor Commercial Pro Chile .

With the emblematic presence of Chilean wines and fresh fruits all over the world, Chile is all set to become a Global Food Powerhouse in the years to come. We are today the 8th largest wine producers in the world with around 987 million litres of wines produced in the year ending 2009 and the 5th exporter worldwide. Several Iconic Chilean wines have made their presence felt in the Indian market.

They are now freely available in the Indian market. But what has been the response to these wines? The erroneous notion has increasingly gained grounds in the expanding wine consuming masses. ProChile Commercial Office has taken up the task of bringing the Chilean wines closer to the Indian public.

The office opened last year in November and since then has published a market study on the wine industry of India. It is amongst our priority Agenda to establish Chilean wines, as wines of Quality and not just VALUE FOR MONEY and gain acceptability amongst the wine connoisseurs.

As a first phase to our general wine promotion plans, we want to bring the wines closer to the Indian masses. To make the wine consuming population more aware of the Chilean wines available in the market, our office along with the Indian Wine Academy and delWine, has designed a concept of social evenings where the Chilean wines (already present in the Indian market) shall be showcased by  there importer-agents to a niche clientele.

This is the premise of our very first event on the 10th of November 2010, to be held at Hotel Grand, New Delhi.  Under the expert guidance of Cav. Subhash Arora-President Delhi Wine Club and Indian Wine Academy, the event will see the presence of 20-30 different kinds of Chilean wines to be tasted along with some fine examples of Chilean Salmon and other sea food never before seen or tasted in India, like the Chilean abalone, limpets, razor clams etc.

Following importers have already agreed to take a part in showcasing their wines:

Sonarys (Montes)
Berkmann Cellars (De Martino)
Dhall Foods & Beverages (Luis Felipe Edwards)
Prestige Wine and Spirits (Torres & Santa Digna)
High Spirits (Anakena)
Aspri (Ventisquero)
Hema Connoisseur (Viñedos Emiliana)
Moet Hennesy (Casa Lapostolle)
Sovereign Impex (Santa Emma)
Brindco (San Pedro and Misiones de Rengo)
Global Tax Free Traders (Concha y Toro)

We have invited the ambassadors of all the principal wine producing nations since we firmly believe that the initial phase should be to promote wines in general. If the consumption of wine increases, every wine producing nation gets to have their fair piece of pie. Thus, more variety and better quality wines will start appearing on the Indian horizon.

We have also invited all the ambassadors of Latin America, Media, Celebrities, Big corporates, F&B Directors, restaurant owners from Delhi NCR and wine loving, enthusiastic members of the Delhi Wine Club. The entry is strictly by invitation only; so we can ensure that each one present at the event will have a great time trying out some magnificent Chilean wines, paired with Salmons and seafood of Chilean origin.

We believe that this event will be a great success and will help establish the Chilean wines not only as “Value for Money” wines, but also Wines with premium quality and reasonable price.
