Pancho Campo, founder of Wine Future, says, “Our 2009 and 2011 editions in Rioja and Hong Kong were very successful in answering many questions that wine professionals had about the severe economic recession the world was then facing. The last edition of Wine Future 2011 was a roaring success that made Pancho Campo a rock star of the wine industry in event organisation. Who’s Who of the wine industry had been invited with Robert Parker being the sensational Speaker. Even Arora was invited to participate in a panel discussion about marketing in the West Asian countries with Debra Meiburg MW as the leader. He had noted in an Article in delWine, ‘If Pancho Campo MW came out as the wine rock-star at the Wine Future Hong Kong with his impressive audio-visual presentation and tasting of powerful Spanish wines, the Wine Maestro Robert Parker took a thousand connoisseurs through a magical journey through Bordeaux with ’09 Classified Growths, while Jancis Robinson MW took us on a trip Beyond Bordeaux with 17 wines.’

Even Jancis Robinson marvelled at the skill of Pancho Campo, who was then her colleague at the Institute of Masters of Wine, for collecting around 2000 people under the same roof with many of them being wine celebrities. It was a true privilege to be at this event to taste with this celebrity. At a later time, Pancho had resigned from the Institute for personal reasons, in effect ‘abdicating’ the throne that had him as the first Master of Wine from Spain at the time.
