For the first time the World Bulk Wine Exhibition (WBWE) which prides itself to offer an opportunity for a wide majority of the bulk business of around 37-40% of total world wine trade, has decided to open its doors to distilled spirits producers also.
Aromatized wines such as vermouth, brandy besides spirits will have an opportunity to find buyers for their products at the WBWE. Several companies are already participating with their distilled products. Welcoming buyers at their stands will be Vinprom (Bulgaria), O’Neill Vintners & Distillers (USA), Alvisa (Spain), Bolero (Georgia), Distillerie de la Tour (France), Shampan (Ukraine), Compagnie Francaise des Spiritueux (France) and Friedmann (France) which have already confirmed their participation. More are expected to join.
Art of Blending Conference
One of the major highlights and a draw for winemakers is the annual Art of Blending Conference that debuted in 2017. The third edition of this technical conference- a must attend for winemakers, blenders and students of enology will have several experts keeping you glued to your seats, with topics relating to the Art of Blending Wine.
The international workshop specialising in the technique of <blending wines making the whole better than the sum of its parts>, is extremely popular and relevant. Though more so for the bulk wine blending, the techniques are useful for any wine blending. Expected to be priced at around €800 according to our information, it has been complimentary so far and the organisers have assured delWine that it will continue to be complimentary this year as well. This essential, practical 2-day conference, full of workshops, tasting sessions and master classes is virtually indispensable. 12 speakers including professors, consultants, enologists, masters of wine, purchasers and communicators from 10 different countries will form the interesting panel.
Several straight shooting and relevant topics like Why bother with Bulk? Form the Conference. The good/ the Bad and the Ugly by a Master of Wine, Alison Flemming, Export Sales Director of Reh Kendermann GmbH, will captivate those interested in the technical aspects. Speakers will touch upon topics like ‘The World is Canning’, Opportunity of an innovative biotechnological tool to preserve bulk white wine colour and aromatic potential overseas and Chinese Wine and Wine Regions will lure the technically minded visitors to this Conference. 250 producers from 22 countries are expected to showcase their wine with 6,500 visitors expected to attend from 60 countries including India.
Organised soon after the harvest in the northern hemisphere, the Exhibition also helps the buyers understand the quality of the new harvest and the price fluctuations and trends for the current year. Giorgio Delgrosso, Data Director of OIV will launch the Conference at 11:30 am on December 2. During this period the annual Voice of Wine Award will also be given during the Launching period.
The subject of Climate Change is worrying every industry today. Rafael Del Rey Director of the OEMV (Spanish Wine Market Observatory), the regular Speaker every year, will talk about Climate Change and its effect on foreign bulk wine trade. Jean Luc Favarel, Research and Development director of Pera-Pellenc group will delve on the new climate change resistant grape varieties. Besides a couple of round table discussions there are several other interesting topics details of which may be found on https://www.worldbulkwine.com
Besides, it will have all the regular features, like Silent Tasting Room with no interference or disturbance from the potential vendors. There will be an International Wine Competition on December 1, where Subhash Arora has been invited to be a judge for yet another year. There is a very delicious Gourmet area where one can sample Spanish gourmet tapas styled food with a few bulk wines. For more information, visit www.worldbulkwine.com.
