Soma Vineyard Resort is located in Soma Vine Village on the edge of backwater of Gangapur dam at Gangavarhe Village, Nashik, on the same road as Sula but 3 kms beyond York Winery.  An exhilarating experience awaits the tourists at Soma Vineyard Resorts, Nashik only 17 km from the City and 173 km from Mumbai. Regenta resort across the road that leads from the entry gate to the winery and resort complex is also a part of Soma Vine Village.  Built and owned by Pachpatil, the 32-room semi-circular resort with a spa and a swimming pool made within the lawn overlooking a vineyards was being managed by Sula Vineyards earlier as Beyond by Sula.

Built primarily to promote wine tourism by offering a comfortable stay and the feel of a winery, Soma Vineyard Resort is a luxury vineyard resort with 5 star amenities, attracting tourists globally.  Visitors to Soma vineyard resort can enjoy the wine tour & tasting at Somanda-which I am told is complimentary for the guests staying at the Resort. They can taste he fruit-forward, juicy and perfumed wines at the open winery tasting room facing the tanks. Wines can also be purchased from the wine shop located by the tasting area at special discount. Somanda has developed 24 different wine variants which it claims are suitable for both Indian & western palates. The winery also produces 6 Reserve wines as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Brut, Shiraz, Riesling and Chardonnay. Soma was the first producer in India for Pinot Noir varietal as also the Dessert Rose wine. It participates regularly in wine competitions and has won a total of 27 national & international wine awards.

Soma Wine Tour & Tasting

A trained sommelier has been engaged to showcase to the visitors the winemaking and take you through the processes of making White, Red, Rose as well as sparkling wines which are all made with the traditional method of second fermentation in the bottle. This visit is followed by an educative tasting session in which you are guided by him to learn the techniques of wine tasting, after which you can taste some of the wines from the boutique winery. The tours and tastings are organized 7 days a week from 1130 am to 630 pm.

Grape Stomping

Grape stomping is still very popular in India amongst novices and connoisseurs alike. There is nothing like the feeling of grapes being gently crushed under the feet as you jump in the oak barrel to experience the age-old tradition of pressing by foot.  The practice is still prevalent in some parts of the world, notably in Douro Valley in Portugal where lagars- vessels where grapes are crushed by human feet or mechanized pedals to crush grapes gently, are a common site at any winery. The stomping can be enjoyed here during the grape harvesting season.

Multi-cuisine Restaurants

Soma Vineyard Resort is attached to two Multi-cuisine restaurants Surahi & Soul Curry.  Surahi is a Maharashtra Multi-cuisine restaurant. Soul curry is a Sea Food Restaurant specializing in Malvani fare. There is something for every taste and age. The food, the ambience, the service, and the music come together and create an eating-out experience that will surely make you want to come back for more.

While you are there, the Chef recommends some of their specialty dishes. Non vegetarians  must try the Surmai & Pomfret Fry, Prawns Lasooni, Mutton Vade or Butter Chicken Bao whereas the vegetarians would be very happy with Mumbai Cha Bao, Canai Potato with Malai Roti or Lasagne. Those with sweet tooth would especially relish Paan Panna Cotta, Cheesecake and , Gulab Jamun with Rabdi.
