Dec 30: Agriment Italia, a Piemonte based company selling wine and offering wine tours, participated in the recently concluded Vinexpo India bringing a range of wines from different wineries in Italy including Piedmont (Piemonte), Tuscany, Veneto, Basilicata, Emilia Romagna and Puglia and also conducting a well-attended Masterclass by Eleonora Testa who offered 3 wines for tasting and reminisces about the participation in her own words
We organized the Vinexpo India in less than one month- it seemed impossible but we did it and Mr. Subhash Arora helped us to make it a reality.
It has been a race against time. We confirmed our participation in mid- November and started to fill up our travel check list- the first step being the visa that was received fast-after two weeks only. Then the wine samples were dispatched. The ticket was booked just five days before the departure; due to the Covid restrictions there were very few flights from Europe to India. It was a tough month in which Subhash had been present every step of the way, supporting and inspiring us- right from the invitation letter for the visa up to the smallest details.
When I arrived in India on December 8, I saw a lot of organized efforts to guarantee the safety of everyone. The same day I met our local partner Kiran Malusare and went for the first time at the fair to check all the arrangements at Pragati Maidan and meet Mr. Arora. Our wines had all been kept in the excise warehouse without a mistake.
The experience on the first day of Vinexpo India was rather unique. I conducted it on the very first day. This was a great idea because it gave us a lot of visibility and boosted the footfalls at our stand. One by one, I met all the participants in the masterclass and had the opportunity to talk with them about our wines and taste some of them. I was very satisfied with the wine selection that we presented at the Show and saw a lot of interest in our wines by all the people who visited our stall.
Our Italian selection focused on 6 producers and covered Italy from the North to the South:
- Tenuta i Gelsi - Basilicata
- Aglianico del Vulture Doc Casello 105
- Basilicata IGP Gelso Rosso
- Basilicata IGP Gelso Rosa
- Basilicata IGP Gelso Bianco
We had decided to present 3 labels at the Masterclass with my PowerPoint Presentation:
Ca’ de Lion Nizza Docg Barrique, Valpolicella Classico Ripasso Superiore Doc and Ca ’de Lion (blend of local grape Ruchè and Pinot Noir which we had exported specially for the Masterclass.
It was heartening to see that the full-house of visitors loved all 3 wines but Ca’ de Lion was flavoured most by the majority- a compliment to the winemaker for blending the indigenous and international grape variety very well. It had a lasting and airy perfume, rich of roses and violets, with ruby colour and orange hue and fresh and fruity berry flavours that lingered in the mouth for a long time.
Vinexpo India has been an amazing experience personally and professionally and we hope that the relationships created during the fair will give results for us to enter a new interesting market such as India. For details, I welcome you to our website https://www.agrimentitalia.it/.
